the police officer is an advanced terminator sent from the future to kill him to stop the resistance from winning against the machines in the future. as far as the mom goes, she wanted to try and stop it before it began instead of waiting for it to start so she tried to change it. but she only delayed it. judgment day was unstoppable. it was fate.
