I haven't found god yet, please help.?

All the Christians I talk to tell me; "When you become a christian your life should be fantastic well better then the way your previous life was... but even while im retatrded atm this life is still 3000 times better then the one i was living before". I get that once you develop your own relationship with god, the holy spirit and the lord Jesus Christ you would have a sense of comfort and enlightenment, but how does it make life 3000x better? this is about the 7th time I've heard this. If I find god will it really change my life soo much?, what are some examples of how it makes life different?
